The UK social media calendar

Every date worth a post, the rest of this year and all of next, with the British ones in the right place. Mothering Sunday is in March. Most calendars put it in May, because most of them are American.

The rest of 2026

Sat 31 Oct 2026 Halloween 34 days to go It lands on a Saturday, so it is a trading weekend, not one night. 20 days of ideas → Thu 5 Nov 2026 Bonfire Night 39 days to go Everyone posts the fireworks. The post that works is the one only your shop can make: the warm bit between the cold and the display. 14 days of ideas → Wed 11 Nov 2026 Remembrance Day 45 days to go This is the one date to observe, not to trade on. The strongest thing you can post is simply that you stopped. 7 days of ideas → Fri 27 Nov 2026 Black Friday 61 days to go You can't out-cut the big shops, so don't try. Offer the one thing they can't: a gift card, at a small premium, from a real person. 21 days of ideas → Mon 30 Nov 2026 Cyber Monday 64 days to go Everyone is on their phone, ready to buy. Your only job today is to make buying from you the easiest thing on the screen. 10 days of ideas → Mon 30 Nov 2026 St Andrew's Day 64 days to go Few of your customers could tell you a thing about Saint Andrew. Make the day about them and the place you share, not the saint. 10 days of ideas → Sat 5 Dec 2026 Small Business Saturday 69 days to go This is the one day where the whole point is you. Don't waste it on a markdown, spend it turning today's goodwill into people who come back. 10 days of ideas → Fri 25 Dec 2026 Christmas 89 days to go Your Christmas deadline isn't the 25th, it's your last order or appointment before it. Count down to that, and the whole month gets simpler. 24 days of ideas → Sat 26 Dec 2026 Boxing Day 90 days to go It lands on a Saturday, so plenty are out and about; a warm, easy invitation does well. 6 days of ideas → Thu 31 Dec 2026 New Year's Eve 95 days to go Everyone posts "Happy New Year". The ones worth reading say thank you, and make the year ahead about the customer, not themselves. 10 days of ideas →

Each one is a page of its own: every day worth a post between now and the date, and what each day is for.

01 · Before you start

How to actually use it

Do not post on all of them. A calendar is a list of what is available, not a list of obligations, and a business that posts on every national day looks like a business with nothing to say.

Pick the six or eight a customer of yours would care about and give yourself a fortnight of warning on each. The value is not knowing that Bonfire Night is on 5 November. It is knowing it in October, while there is still time to take a photograph.

The dates marked with a flag are the ones where UK businesses see demand rather than just engagement, worth building an offer around, not just a post.

Where the dates come from

The bank holidays and substitute days are the government's published list. The moveable feasts are derived from Easter Sunday and day-checked. Every one is worked out for the year you are looking at, not copied from last year.
